DISTRICT NEWS
PIO PIO (Own Correspondent.) The last meetine for this year was held by the Womens’ Division Farmers’ Union, Pio Pio branch, last Thursday, when Mrs. Cullen presided over a full attendance of members. It was decided to hold a garden party early in the New Year. A punga fence and summer house has recently been erected round the Rest Room and garden made, also a pathway from the road leading to it. The exchange mart was in charge of Mrs. Frank Gould and contributions were sent in to help with the school children’s Christmas tree. A charge of 6d. for tea was also made and Mrs. J. Petch has donated a large Christmas cake for the same purpose. The Kahuwera ladies surmlied the tea, the hostesses being Mesdames Cullen, Gauntlett, W. Bargh, Davey, Carrel, Furniss. A Plunket meeting was also held in the Rest Room on the same day, Mrs. Nilson being in the chair. Accounts were passed for payment. The nurse reported that all the babies were doing well.
