COMBATANT BEHEADED
DUEL WITH SCYTHES. A duel with scythes was fought for the hand of a beautiful Slav maiden in a village near Prague, Czechoslovakia. It resulted in the death of one of the combatants and of his mother who tried to intervene. The two men, who were wealthy farmers, both met the girl at the same time. They immediately started to fight. The mother of one of the men, rushing to intervene, was slashed through the neck, and the man himself was beheaded. The victor took to flight and hid in the dense woods.
