PARACHUTE RECORD

A FALL OF 16,300 FEET. A THRILLING EXPERIMENT. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.45 a.m.) Capetown, November 21. A South African, George Kerr, of Durban, established a parachute jump record of 16,300 feet. Kerr stated: “I began losing strength at 17,000 feet. I let uo without warning the pilot and fell hundreds of feet before pulling the rip cord and I swung violently. The cold turned to warmth. I smoked cigarettes and chewed biscuits to counteract sickness. I drifted ten miles and was twenty minutes in descending.”
