MR. ALEXANDER BELL

FIRST V/HITE MAN IN THE KING COUNTRY. DEATH AT TAUMARUNUI. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Taumarunui, this day. The death occurred to-day of Mr. Alexander Bell, aged 93, the first white man to set foot in the King Country. The deceased was born in Ireland, and came to Taumarunui in 1874. He married Katarina Te Waihonae, daughter of the chieftain Topene, and she died in 1910. Mr. Bell had seventeen children, nine of whom and 85 grandchildren survive him.
