COMING EVENTS
AS INDICATED BY THE MODERN MISS. When Mabel daily goes to town She takes with her a book, Which tells her how to make a gown, And also how to cook; For Mabel's beau has popped the question, But he's afraid of indigestion ! So Mabel's studying the art— She'd hate to see him thinner; Besides, the best way to his heart Is via well-cooked dinner. She'll soon know how to make a cake Just like her mother used to bake. Let's hope their wedded life is long, And that they stay the distance, They will not suffer and be strong Upon a tinned existence, For when her husband Mabel wins She will not need to open tins !
