W. Parsonage's Forbra (10.7) . . 1 Mrs. Ireland's Egremont (10.7). . 2 W. H. Midwood's Shaun Goilin (12.4) 3
Thirty-six horses started. Won by three lengths, eight lengths between second and third. Forbra and Egremont ran over three-quarters of the race in company and jumped the last fence together. Forbra beat off Egremont's strong challenge to win. Only eight horses finished. Grakale refused to jump one obstacle, and Gregalach fell.
The Grand National Steeplechase is the world's greatest jumping event. There were 51 acceptances on January 26, but there was a final acceptance on March 8.« Gregalach* won in 1929 and Shaun Goilin in 1930. Forbra was not in the first j five favourites.
