REVISED LORD’S PRAYER

AMERICAN VERSION

An example of the phraseology in the new American Bible, which has been prepared by Dr J. M. Powis Smith and Dr Edgar Goodspeed, of the University of Chicago, is given by a correspondent. The Lord’s Prayer will read as follows:

“ Our Father in Heaven Your name be revered. Your kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is

done in Heaven. Give us to-day bread for the day. And forgive us our debts as we have forgiven our debtors. And do not subject us to temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.” The new Bible was expected to make its appearance at the end of last year. V.
