WISDOM WITH YEARS

WOMAN’S LUCKY BREAK,

What a fortunate thing that so few women ever attain their youthful dreams or marry the “ Ideal Man ” of their youthful fancy ! Just a few years make such a difference in your whole perspective ! * * * *

When you are very young you long for something to “ happen ” —anything exciting, thrilling, or “ different.” When you are a little older you fervently “hope that nothing will happen ” —particularly nothing disturbing. * * '-?■ *

At twenty you go in for daring hats, exotic earrings, mascaraed eyelids, trailing skirts, and bizarre makeup—anything to make you look more sophisticated. At forty you bob your hair and revert to innocent, girlishlooking hats, pastel sweaters, and a pale make-up—anything to make you look more ingenuous—and younger.

When you are very young you long do be original, startling, “ different ” ! When you are slightly older you hope to heaven that nobody will think you "old”; and you trust t'he world will close its eyes if you do anything unconventional or egregious.

In your college years you struggle to camouflage your eagerness with an air of boredom and hard-boiled cynicism. When you are a little older you cautiously cover your boredom and cynicism with a bright, forced smile of eagerness and enthusiasm. * * * *

When you are slightly older you weed out the bores, become very discriminating, sigh only for an “ interesting ’ man —and pray Heaven to deliver you from dull parties and dimwits.

When you are very young you pose as a cynic and pretend to distrust “ all ” men. They “ can’t fool you ” !

When you are a little older you know that all women can be fooled some of the time, and some women can be fooled all of the time. Bull you have learned how to look up into a man’s eyes and pretend to believe him-—even when you know he’s lying * * * *

When you are very young you dream of a dashing, masterful caveman, entirely surrounded by money and adoring women. Somebody who can thrill you, dominate you and make you “ suffer.” When you’re a little older you yearn only for a kind, tender, manageable, understanding man, who will make- you comfortable and happy. Somebody who will “ star ” you—not tlreat you as one of the footlights. * * * *

Yes, it is fortunate for women that so few of them ever find or marry “ that school-girl fancy.” That first “ heart-break ” is sometimes a lucky break ‘!
