RETAIL PRICES IN LONDON

The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has been advised by its London manager, that the following retail prices are being quoted for New Zealand lamb and mutton retailed in London on 4th March, 1932: New Zealand Lamb: Legs lid per lb., shoulders lOd per lb, loins 9d per lb., necks 4d per lb., breasts 3d per lb., forequarters 7}£d per lb. hindquarters lOd per lb. New Zealand Mutton (Wether): Legs 8d per lb., shoulders 7d per lb., loins 7d per lb., necks 3d per lb. breasts 3d per lb.

WESTFIELD STOCK SALE.

Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows on sale held on 9th inst.:—

Beef.—Ox beef was yarded in average 'numbers and sold steadily at values on a par with late rates. Cow and heifer beef also came forward in about usual numbers, selling steadily at late rates. Extra choice ox sold to 20s per lOOlbs.; choice and prime ox 17s to 19s; just killable 15s to 16s; prime young cow and heifer beef 16s to 19s;' just killable 15s; heavy prime steers made £7" 5s to £7 7s 6d; lighter prime steers £6 5s to £7 2s 6d; light

Extra heavy prime wethers realised 15s 3d to 16s 6d; heavy prime wethers 14s to 15s; medium wethers 12s to 13s 9d; light and unfinished wethers 11s to 11s 9d; maiden ewes 12s 6d to 13s; heavy prime ewes 9s 6d to 10s 6d; lighter prime ewes 8s to 9s 3d; ether ewes 7s 3d to 7s 9d. Lambs were penned in average numbers and sold under a good demand at late rates. Heavy prime lamb realised 13s 6d to 15s 6d; medium prime lamb 12s to 13s 3d; light prime lamb 9s 6d to 11s 9d. Calves.—Calves were yarded in very large numbers and many lines of good quality vealers were penned. Prices were again easier for most lines. Runners made £1 10s to £2 lGs; heavy vealers £1 10s to £2; medium vealers £1 2s to £1 8s; light vealers 18s to £1 Is; small vealers 8s to 16s; rough calves 5s to 10s; small and fresh dropped 2s to ss.

Pigs, — Pigs yarded in'smaller numbers and prices were rather uetter than last week’s quotations. Choppers made £1 to £2 ss; heavy baconers £2 5s to £2 9s; medium baconers £2 2s to £2 4s; light baconers £1 17s to £2 Is; heavy porkers £1 14s to £1 18s; medium porkers £1 10s to £1 13s; light porkers £1 3s to £1 9s.
