Tourists should be brought to understand how simple travelling was in New Zealand, said Sir William Ellis, in Christchurch recently. He thought that people were u'nfair to the greatly abused railways. Referring to a trip to the Hermitage, Mount Cook, he said he had found the run to Timaru a very good one, while the whole arrangements for going to the Hermitage were very well worked out.
