HOLDING UP TEAT CUPS.
A very simple device for holding the milking machine cups on heifers and cows with bad shaped udders can be easily and cheaply made. Obtain for each device required 5 feet of % inch square catapult elastic from any rubber service station and costing about fourpence per foot. Tie each end of the elastic in a loop with wool or soft string, and in each loop fix a hook, about two inches long, made of No. 8 fencing wire. Before putting on the cups hang the elastic over the cow's back with the hooks hanging down and hook in the claw when the cups are on. This device has the advantage of fitting any sized cow without adjustment, and it moves with the cow, holding the cups on wonderfully well. By placing the elastic over the tail or towards the wither the pull can be made forwards or backwards as required.
