When a judgment debtor was being examined in the Te Kuiti court recently, in reply to a question by counsel, debtor stated, inter alia, that he had to support a wife and family, and also contributed to the upkeep of a widowed mother. He had received £4 in cash in the last four months. He had been engaged in carting work, but this had terminated in May of this year The chief payment for work done had been by way of stores. In answer to a question as to why he did not obtain work on unemployed relief, debtor stated that he was ineligible owing to the fact that he was held to have a -business."
