INJURY BY EARTHQUAKE
BIBLE REFERENCE. ONLY RECORDED CASE. "No, I must admit that there is no legal reference, so far as I know, of injury actually caused by an earthquake itself," Mr. .P. J. O'Regan, counsel in a case heard by the Court of Appeal, told their Honours in Wellington on ThursT day. "In fact," he went on, "the only reported ease of injury by actual earthquake that I know is recorded in the Book of Numbers." Mr. O'Regan proceeded to quote the first of the two verses given below from chapter 16 of the Book "of Numbers:— "And the earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah and all their goods." "They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them; and they perished from among the congregation."
