(Own Correspondent.) Last sale day Miss Hitchcock came to Pio Pio to demonstrate art work to the members of the Women s Division of the Farmers' Union, the ■work including leather, brass, and sealing wax demonstrations. After Miss Hitchcock had been introduced to the members by Mrs. C. Jackson, president, she explained in a most lucid manner how the work was done. The articles were then handed round for inspection and were very beautiful. At the conclusion Mrs. Cullen proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Miss Hitchcock, which was carried by acclamation. . The ladies of Te Mapara were hostesses for the afternoon tea. As the Rest Room was crowded to overflowiung they had a busy afternoon, and a delicious tea was served. Those helping were Mesdames Fulcher, Trice, Cullen, Christensen, Misses Fellingham and Fulcher. The W.D.F.U. held an exchange mart on the same day and met with the usual success. An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of the Pio Pio Cooperative Dairy Co., Ltd., was held on Saturday, 26th September, for the purpose of electing a new board of directors in place of the old board which had resigned after last meeting . The following were elected:—Messrs. R. W. Neal (chairman), J. E. Trust, J. Kenny, H. Topp, M. A. MacKenzie, G. Fulcher, and Roberts (Mahoenui). Mrs. Nicholas was the hostess at the Cinderella dance on Saturday evening, and a very enjoyable time was spent by those present. Mr. Dick Mason supplied the music. Mr. Deverell was M.C. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Lorna Topp and Mr. Nolan.
