After a sitting lasting 25 hours the Assembly has not concluded its programme, and the House meets again in the. afternoon. Among measures disposed of were Bills to legalise mechanical hare coursing with betting, a Supply Bill covering the Public Service requirements for October and November, and a Bill dealing with the compulsory conversion of stock that has not been converted under the Commonwealth Debt Conversion Act. ABUSE OF THE DOLE. DRASTIC PREVENTATIVE MEASURES. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) Sydney, this day. The Government is making every effort to prevent dole impositions. In the Eastern Suburbs alone over 700 people were struck off the list last Six women inspectors have been appointed by the Department of Labour and Industry. One case of abuse is that of a man collecting tickets under seven names, in each case drawing an allowance for his wife and a big family. The police caught him selling goods bought with dole coupons. He told the police that he was unlucky to be caught, as he could point out 50 men in the dole queues who were doing the same.
