When the kitchen chimneys go up in the houses I think the women will be allowed to return. My husband had a hard job to get a permit for my daughter and myself; he said we were coming back to get our clothes, The light and gas are on, so we are cooking and eating in the kitchen, but I sit near the door with one leg round the chair, ready to bolt. We are still sleeping on the back lawn.” v
