STOCK SALES. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on the sales of the week as under: — ASHHURST. There was a heavy yarding- of both sheep and cattle at their Ashhurst sale on Wednesday, 4th inst. There was a keen demand for all classes of sheep, especially lambs, keen competition resulting' and a total clearance was effected under the hammer. Shorn b.f. rape lambs 7s 6d to 8s lOd; good w.f. wether lambs 9s Id; medium w.f. wether lambs 5s 6d to 6s 3d; small w.f. wether lambs 4s 8d to ss; 5-year ews 4s to ss; 2-tooth ewes 10s Gd to 12s 7d; small 2-tooth ewes 8s 6d; 2-tooth wethers 8s 7d; fat wethers 9s 4d to 12s 3d; 1-shear Romney rams 1 to 2 gns; 1-shear S.D. rams 1 gn;; weaner pigs 11s to 14s 6d; light fat cows £3 5s to £3 7s 6d; empty cows £2 10s to £3; Jersey bulls £3 12s 6d. HUNTERVILLE.

There was a fair yarding of sheep at the Hunterville sale on Thursday, sth inst., all of which changed hands. Quotations — Cull wether lambs 2s 3d; small wether lambs 3s 7d; fair wether lambs 6s 6d; cull 2 and 4-tooth ewes 5s 6d; aged ewes 3s 9d; 5-year ewes 7s 8d; 2-tooth ewes 13s 3d to 14s. FEILDING. There was a very large yarding of store sheep and store cattle and a moderate entry of other classes at their Feilding sale on Friday, 6th inst. Prices realised for the older breeding ewes were rather better than at the previous week’s sale, but young sheep and lambs were inclined to be easier, this being more especially noticed among the black faces. Practically a total clearance was effected and the following are prices realised:— Fat 2-tooths 10s 3d to 11s 9d; m.a. ewes 3s to ss; 5-year ews Gs to 7s 9d; 4 and 5-year ewes 7s to 8s 3d; 6-tooth to 4-year ewes 7s lOd to 8s 6d; 2-tooth ewes, small, 8s lOd to 11s 7d; 2-tooth ewes 13s 6d to 16s 6d; cull lambs 2s 6d to 3s 4d; small ewe lambs 3s Gd to 4s; medium ewe lambs 6s 6d to 7s Id; b.f. woolly lambs 6s Id to 7s; b.f. shorn rape lambs 8s to 8s 6d; springing heifers £4 10s to £5 10s; springing cows £7 to £8; empty cows 30s to £2; small Jersey weaner heifers 27s Gd; small 18-months heifers, r.w.b., £4 6s; 18-months P.A. heifers £3 6s; 18-months P.A. steers £3 6s 6d; small 18-months P.A. heifers £2 10s; small 18-months P.A. steers 30s to 355; P.A. cows £4; 4-year P.A. bullocks £5 15s; 4-year P.A. Hereford bullocks £5 2s 6d. FRANKTON STOCK SALE. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual stock sale at Frankton saleyards on Tuesday, 10th March, as under:— Fat Sheep.—There was an average yarding; prices generally were Is to Is Od higher; fat wethers sold at from 10s to 12s 2d; prime fat ewes made 5s 6d to 7s 3d; prime woolly fat lambs up to 12s Gd; medium lambs 9s 6d to 10s lOd. Fat Cattle. —A moderate yarding which met with good competition at prices from 2s to 3s per hundred higher than last week. Prime good quality bullocks made from £8 Is to £9 Is; small and light-weight bullocks £6 3s to £7 ss; prime fat cows of good quality sold from £5 2s to £5 17s; inferior cows £2 2s Gd to £3 2s 6d; heavy runners 35s to 465; light runners 27s 6d to 345.

Store Cattle. —There was a fair yarding. The demand was weak generally and prices were low. We sold 2-year Southdown steers from £2 13s to £3 2s; 3-year Holstein cross steers £2 9s to £2 14s; 2-year Holstein cross steers 36s to 41s.

Pigs.—There was a full yarding of both fat and store pigs which sold on a par with late rates. We quote: Prime baconers £2 5s to £2 11s; best poi’kers £1 11s to £2; lighter do, 16s to 18s 6d; slips 10s to 15s 6d; best weaners 6s 6d to 9s; others 3s 6d to ss.
