SUMP OIL.

Despite the present enormous use of tins for packing goods of every variety it is still difficult to find a receptacle suitable for catching oil drained from the sump; if the tin is shallow enough to go under the engine, its capacity is seldom great enough, and vice versa. This being so, it is well to remember that a onegallon oil tin is ideal for the purpose if one side is completely cut away, and the cap, of course, left in position. The cutting can be done quite easily with a pair of tin shears (or, if none is available, a large pair of old scissors) after an initial hole has been punched with a screwdriver.
