GENEVA DEATH PLOT
THREAT TO LITVINOFF.
DELEGATE UNDER GUARD. Was there a plot to kill M. Litvinoff, chief Soviet delegate to the Preparatory Commission on Disarmament? An anonymous letter in Russian, handed to the Soviet delegation at Geneva, contained a strong threat against the chief delegate, stated the special correspondent of the Daily Express. At the same time a letter written in bad French reached the Geneva police, calling attention to a plot to assassinate M. Litvinoff.
The guard surrounding the hotel where the Soviet delegates lived was increased and ten plain-clothes men followed M. Litvinoff everywhere. However, the Geneva police said they did not believe any plot ever existed. They considered it a romantic detective story created to stir people up.
