BELIEVE IT OR NOT
Once upon a time a party of women sat down to tea, and hardly said a word to each other throughout the meal!
“I think that Brown girl from ‘Mon Repos’ is very attractive —don’t you?” said Mrs. Smith, the mother of two rather plain daughters! There was once a girl who dropped in upon a friend for a few moments. She stayed exactly 20 minutes. “My husband is so generous,” said the hostess as she poured out the tea. “And so is mine!” echoed one guest. “Mine too!” declared a third.
Once upon a time there lived a woman who made no attempt to capture her friend’s perfect maid. “No,” said a hostess, as a caller admired her 5 o’clock tea cloth, “it isn’t handmade lace. As a matter of fact, I bought it at a sale for five-and-eleven.”
