"CAN WARE THE DEAD."
POWER OF JEALOUS WOMEN.
DRAMATIC RESURRECTION AT WAKE.
(Press Association.—Copyright..) (Received 8.40 a.m.) Mexico City, November 4
Alexander Ro Delapena, a rich inheritor of a famous name and immense property, was pronounced dead by two physicians. Then there followed a wake. Anna Rosales appeared on the scene and insisted on taking possession of the corpse, saying she was his wife. Mrs. Delapena, the second wife, disputed possession of the body. The women came to blows. People crowded in from the street as the women shrieked and fought over the coffin. When the row was at its height, Delapena rose suddenly in his coffin, asking what all the racket was about, and the mourning guests fled in terror. The story of the resurrection spread rapidly, the street being quickly jammed for several blocks by the curious crowd, who demanded that the dead man be brought out where all could see him. The intervention of the police and firemen was necessary to clear the streets. "You see, two jealous women can wake the dead," Alexandro said, when asked what brought him out of his death sleep.
