RESOURCES OF KING COUNTRY.
Lstrge Areas of Undeveloped Land.
Awaiting Capital and Development.
There must be many, people even in the King Country who fail to realise the enormous potentialities there are awaiting development in the middle portion of the North Island, which contains tremendous areas of virgin country only requiring capital and energy to make them productive and add to the general wealth of the Dominion. In the Pio Pio, Aria, Rangitoto, Mapiu, Tangitu and Kopaki districts, and bordering the Main Trunk line, both north and south of Te Kuiti, tens of thousands oi acres _it would be no exaggeration to state hundreds of thousands—will in time be retrieved from nature and brought under cultivation. This will take time and capital and hard work, but with an even rainfall, good soil, and the aid of science as applied to farming, there is a great future in store for this district. In some parts there are soil difficulties, but the trouble in this connection will be eventually overcome by the research work now being carried out by the Government. It is our intention to bring under the notice of our readers the possibilities there are for development in this district, and this paper will from time to time publish a brief survey of each district, these being from personal observations and the opinions and experiences of farmers resident in the respective districts. *
