MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE.
ADDRESS AT ELTHAM. REFERENCE TO DOMINION SLUMP. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) E'ltham, this day. The Hon. O. J. Hawken, Minister of Agriculture, addressed his constituents here last night. Ho attributed the slump in the Dominion to over-importation during the last two years. At one time, he said, imports exceeded exports by six millien pounds, but for this th© Government was not responsible, as motor cars were largely responsible for this increase. Replying; to a questioner, h© said that there was a. general impression they had lost a lot of money over the Dairy Produce Export Control Board, but his opinion was that they had not lost anything. The Minister was accorded a vote of thanks.
