ABSENT MEMBERS TO RESIGN. EMPLOYING EX-SERVICE MEN. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.45 a.m.) London, April 8. A Bill, sponsored by seven Labour members and obviously designed to meet the case of Captain Gee, was introduced, rendering vacant any seat in the House of Commons, the member for which is absent for twelve months without special leave of the House.
Another Bill, introduced by exservice members, including Commander Kenworthy, makes compulsory the ■employment of disabled ex-service "men.
The Act would be administered by the Labour Ministry, and a committee consisting of employers, employees, and ex-service men, with the right to fix special wages, though the current standard of rates should be generally observed. An employer failing to comply with the notice to employ ox-service men would be liable to a penalty of £IOO, plus £5 per man for each subsequent month.
