CIVIC LEAGUE.

PREPARATIONS FOR FLORAL FETE. A meeting of the executive of the Civic League was held on Tuesday evening in connection with the arrangements for the forthcoming floral fete on February 17. The resignation was received of Miss H. Graham from the position of secretary for reasons of health and pressure of other duties, the resignation to take effect after the floral fete. It was decided to write expressing the League's regret and its appreciation of Miss Graham's sterling services. Mrs J. AY. Cochrane was appointed organising secretary and Miss Vercoe treasurer. It was decided to request the school committee to grant the children a holidav on the day of the fete. It was reported that arrangements were now well in hand and the committee was sanguine that the fete would be a pronounced success, more especially as it was the League's only annual effort to raise funds for its own working expenses. The proposal to hold a procession of decorated vehicles had been enthusiastically received and a first-class display was expected. Prizes were being offered in each class for the best decorated motor cars, motor lorries, horse-drawn vehicles, cycles, perambulators, and children's trollies and scooters.
