TO MAKE A LONG HANDLED POWDER PUFF.
The debutante of to-day is very keen on her' toilet accessories. She must have her manicure set and her powder bowl, but perhaps her most cherished possession is a powder puff with a long If yolu are seeking a birthday gift for a girl friend, you cannot do better than give her one. They are rather expensive to buy, but really quite simple to make yourself, and you can decorate then to suit the taste of the recipient. Buy a puff about five inches across. Get a round stick aboujt quarter-inch diameter and 14 inches long. Wrap this tightly, either with gold ribbon or with some pretty-coloured half-inch satin ribbon. It is advisable to stick the end, of (the ribbon with paste. The correct way to wrap the stick is to fold the ribbon over the end to hide
it, atick that end down firmly, and then wrap the ribbon tightly round the stick. When all the stick is covered, sew the end of the ribbon firmly to keep it from unwinding. Now, stitch this end to the back of the puff, making it quite firm. The next thing is to trim the puff. Make some silken fruifts of various sizes and colours, and arrange them on the back, the large ones in the centre, the smaller ones round the edge. The back of the puff must be entirely covered, and you must take core to hide the end of the stick. Most, people have pieces of silk, satin, or velvet, any of which can be used with good effect.
