COLOGNE EVACUATION.
GERMAN ANTI-BRITISH FEELING. BITTER PRESS CAMPAIGN. (Press Association.) London, January I. The Berlin correspondent of the Times said the Press is conducting a bitter anti-British campaign over the non-evacuation of Cologne. They assert that British influence dominates the Control Commission. The Vossische Zeitting declares that British officers of the commission were alone responsible for the difficulties which mostly occurred in the industrial centres. They were actuated not by interests in the disarmament of Germany, but fears of Germany’s commercial competition. These and similar statements are being widely exploited, says the correspondent, and there can be no doubt Germany’s object is to place the action of Britain in the worst possible light and make it appear that the British attitude is dictated by interests of the basest kind. The best answer would be the publication of the House of Commons report with as little delay as possible.
