LAND DETERIORATION.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —In reading your report of evidence given before the Government Commission in your issue of 29th ult., dealing with Mr Finlay's property at Oparure, one might be led to the. opinion that the whole of this property was of poor quality and had deteriorated. This is not so, as the land complained of by Mr Finlay consisted of about 60 or 70 acres of hill land only. The balance of his property is real good land and holding the grass well. In fairness to Mr Finlay I think this correction should be made.—l am. etc., JAS. N. BODDIE.
