OTOROHANGA NOTES.

(Own Correspondent.) The local branch of the Plunket Society hold 1 a. street staid in the town' yesterday in aid of the funds of the newly foymed branch in Otorolianga. Mesdames Dakiell and Yeale were in charge of the stall and the funds of the branch should be augmented considerably as a result. The Lands Deterioration Commission sat to hear evidence in the Town Hall yesterday. The districts chiefly affected are the Honikiwi and 1 Te-Rau-a-Moa districts. A number of settlers gave .evidence of their difficulties, mainly P’n Hie way of coping with rabbits ami nocuous weeds. An accident which might easily have been, attendtd with more serious reslults took place on the Cambiidge-Horaliora, Bead on Thursday last, when a car and driven by Mr J. A. Ormsby ra'n off the road about 15 miles from Cambridge. It appears that Mr Ormsby’s car suddenly met "a car coming from the opposite direction and in attempting to escape a head-on collision, ran off the road and overturned several times into a deep gully at the side of the road. The car was very badly damaged, Mr and, Mrs J. Belcher and M iss D. Hall, sustained some painful i cuts and bruises. Mr Ormsby escaped j without a scratch.
