STOCK SALES.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report on the sales of the week as below:—

BULLS.

At the Bulls sale on Monday, 27th August, there was a small yarding of sheep and a full entry of cattle, principally dairy sorts, which were slow of sale. Quotations: B.F. hoggets 19s 9d, fat heifers £4 2s 6d to £B, light fat cows £4 15s, forward cows £2 3s, store cows and heifers 20s to 31s, yearling heifers £2 6s, springing heifers £3 10s to £6 2s 6d, dairy cows £5 3s to £5 17s 6d, pigs, weaners 17s, slips 27s to 375, stores 325. ASHHURST. At the Ashhurst sale on Wednesday, the 29th ult., there was a fair yarding of sheep and cattle. Sheep sold freely, all lines being disposed of, and cattle met a medium market, very little failing to reach vendors' reserves. Quotations: Fat hoggets 26s 6d, extra prime wethers 45s 6d, good wether hoggets 19s to 235, store ewes 10s 6d, yearling steers 28s, yearling heifers 10s to £2 15s, forward cows 38s to £3, store cows 20s, backward dairy cows £3 5s to £5 ss, dairy heifers £2 7s 6d to £5 ss, pigs, weaners 14s, slips 275. PALMERSTON NORTH. At the Palmerston North sale on Thursday, the 30th ult., there was a small yarding of sheep and a fair entry of cattle. Quotations: Small yearling heifers 34s 6d, store cows 28s to 375, forward cows £2 5s to £2 9s, heifers, r.w.b. £4, springing S.H. heifers £5, prime fat heifers £8 18s 6d to £9 12s 6d, prime cows £9 8s to £9 13s, light sorts £7 lis. SANDON. At the Sandon Hogget fair on Thursday, the 30th ult., a yarding of 5400 sheep came to hand, including some particularly choice lines. Bidding was restricted, and this may be attributed to severe weather lately experienced causing an acute shortage of grass pastures, and a large number of sheep were passed at auction, several lines of which were afterwards disposed of privately. Quotations: Medium wether hoggets 22s lOd to 22s 6d, very fair do 245, good do 24s 9d to 25s 6d, medium mixed do 23s 3d, medium ewe hoggets 245. FEILDING. At the Feilding sale on Friday the 31st ult., there was a moderate yarding of sheep and cattle, for which there was a very fair demand all round, practically everything changing hands. Quotations: Light fat hoggets 24s 9d, do ewes 27s 4d, extra prime heavy fat ewes £2 4s 6d to £2 6s, small mixed hoggets 20s 3d to 21s, very fair wether hoggets 24s to 255, good ewe hoggets 28s, m.a. ewes in lamb 26s 2d, Jersey dairy heifers £5 15s to £9 10s, Crossbred dairy heifers £4 to £6 12s 6d, dairy cows £5 ss, store cows and calves £2 lis, fat bullocks £lO 14s.
