JAPANESE DISASTER.
SYMPATHY OF CHINA. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 12.30 p.m.) Pekin, September 5. The Cabinet has agreed to the remission of the embargo on the export of rice, in order to facilitate supplies to Japan, and has also voted £200,000 for the relief of distress in Japan. An apostolic delegate of the Holy See has communicated with 60 Catholic Bishops in China, urging them to support the local committees in organising aid. He also informed Yoshizawa that he would gladly place at his disposal a large number of Catholic nursing sisters, who have seen service in the Great War.
Wellington Koo has forwarded a telegram to Count Yamamoto, conveying the sympathy of the Chinese people, and fervent wishes for a speedy termination of the unprecedented castrophe.
