The presidential address of the British Trades Unions' Congress warned organised workers against the belief that the millenium was attainable by political methods alone. Even a Labour Government would hot mean the abolition of the capitalist. A system of-strong trade unions would always be necessary. War had made little if any difference in the employers' methods, and the same antagonism existed as before the war.

A strange accident occurred at a bull fight at Bayonee, in Spain. Antonio Marquez, a well-known matador, was trying to give the final blow, when the bull threw back its head and the sword, was, flung among the spectators. It struck a young Cuban, piercing his heart. The matador has been arrested.
