GOLF NOTES

V. HAWKE, CHAMPION

A meeting of the Te Kuiti Golf Club was held on Wednesday evening, when a letter was read from the club's patron, Mr J. O. Rolleston, M.P., intimating that he was forwarding a trophy for competition. In connection therewith it was decided to hold a bogey competition on Saturday next, Bth September, the member—lady or gentleman—returning the best card, including their handicap, to receive the trophy. It was decided to review the handicaps of members immediately, and a sub-committee was appointed to deal with the matter. The preliminary and final rounds of the club championship have now been completed. V. Hawke defeated Simmis 7 up and 6 to play, and won from Kennedy by default. He also accounted for Dodd in the final, and is thus champion for 1923.
