PARAHEKA NOTES.

(Own Correspondent.)

We are having an ideal lambing season in this district at present. The weather so far lias been everything that could be desired, with the result that good lambing percentages are likely to be recorded at docking time throughout the district . Mr B. McKenzie has recently disposed of his farm for a good round sum. The estate comprises 650 acres of firstclass land. I understand that the incoming purchasers are going in for dairying, which means an addition to the ranks of the dairy fanners in this district and an increase in the butterfat output at the local factory next season.

Two of the Returned Soldiers’ forfeited sections have been taken over recently at a reduced rental from the Government. The incoming tenants are practical farmers and are sure to make headway. The unmetalled roads in the district are in a very bad state at the present time. I am informed that the cream waggon was bogged on one particular road the other day, and it took 10 men with two jacks five hours to get the waggon and horses on to solid ground. A number of our up-to-date dairy farmers are having tlieir milking shed floors laid down with concrete. Most of the herds in tlie district have wintered well and are coming in in good order.
