THE DAVIS CUP.

WON BY AMERICA. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 11.35 a.m.) New York, September 3

In the final match for the Davis Cup Tilden defeated Anderson, 6—2, 6—3, I—6, 7—5. W. M. Johnston (U.S.A.) defeated Hawkes (Australia),. 6—o, 6 —3, 6—2, and the United States thus wins the Davis Cup. (The Cup goes to the nation winning three out of the five matches. On the opening day U.S.A. and Australia each won a match, and on the second day U.S.A. won the doubles after a terrific contest, giving them a lead of two matches to one. The result of the above singles, consequently, places the issue beyond doubt).
