JUDGE’S STORY OF BORROWED INFANT. i Judge Mellor told an amusing story ill Manchester of how he was l imposed on by a baby. Some months ago, he said, he was dealing separately with a number of women, nearly all of whom had a baby decked with a blue ribbon. I said to the ploliceman outside, continued Judge Mellor, “A great number of babies in court this morning.” “No sir, only one,” replied the policeman. i “But I have seen about a dozen.” “Oh, yes, sir. Same baby, sir.” The policeman explained, that when a woman had with a baby there had been a rush to borrow it, as the women said, “We get more money out of the judge if avc have a baby.”
