THE HOSPITAL.

AMOUNTS TO BE RAISED. The legislation recently enacted to provide for the erection of a hospital at Te Kuiti at an estimated cost of £1.5,000 provides that the capital cost, after deducting the Government subsidy, shall be apportioned as follows: Te Kuiti Borough Council, 34.34 per cent; Waitomo County Council, 52.12 per cent; Otorohanga County Council, 15.54. The Te Kuiti Borough has already raised £1960 by voluntary contributions, and this amount carries a special subsidy of 24s in the £. The apportionment of the liability, put into figures, works out as follows:

The inclusion of the Otorohanga town district in that portion of the Otorohanga County liable for 13.54 per cent of the cost of the hospital does not in any way lessen the contributions of the other local bodies. It simply widens the area of the Otorohanga contribution.
