CHILD’S TRAGIC DEATH

Robert Medlicott was remanded on a charge of murdering his eleven-year-old daughter at Richmond.
The evidence disclosed that the accused’s children were quarreling at the tea table, when a knife was thrown, which penetrated the girl’s chest. She died shortly after. When questioned by the police, the accused said he did not know why he threw the knife.
THE COTTON INDUSTRY. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 12.55 p.m.) Sydney, this day. The first cotton ginnery in New South Wales was opened at Newcastle yesterday by the Premier, Sir John Fuller. He stated that although last season was abnormally dry, the cotton yield was 75,000 bales, and it is estimated that from 15,000 to 30,000 acres are under crop this year.
