STOCK SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Te Kuiti, report having held sales at Otorohanga on the 20th and at Pio Pio on the 21st as under:— OTOROHANGA. A small yearding of • cattle and sheep came forward at Otorohanga, while there was a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle at Pio Pio. Sheep sold at prices on a par with late rates, while cattle all round met with an improved demand. Good quality dairy cows and heifers were in short supply and met with a good sale. For poor quality dairy stock the market was lifeless. Bullocks and steers of all classes sold readily at increased rates. Quotations: — Light fat heifers £2 6s, backward bullocks, rough quality to £2 18s, 2year steers £2 17s to £3 3s, yearling heifers £2 10s to £2 13s, store cows £1 7s 6d to £1 12s, mixed yearlings 20s, young dairy cows £4 10s to £B, rough sorts £2 10s to £4. FEILDING. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report having a small entry of sheep and a very fair yarding of cattle at their Feilding sale on Friday, 22nd inst. All classes of sheep met with a good demand, though fats were slightly easier. Quotations: —B.F. hoggets 18s 4d, wether hoggets 18s 6d, ewe hoggets 255, fat ewes 22s 2d, fat cows £4 to £5 18s, rough 4-year bullocks £5, yearling dairy heifers £3 9s to £3 16s, store cows 355, empty cows £2 7s, aged draught mare £35, 3-year draught stallion £SO. CLEARING SALE. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report:— We held a clearing sale on Thursday last at Orini on account of Mr F. Houghton, of his dairy herd, comprising Jersey, Shorthorn and Friesian cows, nearly all calved and in good condition. There was a large attendance, and several buyers operated freely, with the result that most satisfactory prices ruled throughout. Jersey cows made up to £2O, Shorthorn to £l6, and Friesians to £l6 10s; 87 cows sold at an average of £l3 lis, springing heifers £6 to £7 15s, breeding sows £4 to £5 10s, fat porkers £1 19s.
