EMPRESS THEATRE. “The Secret of the Hills.” featuring Antonio Moreno, will ho the chief attraction at the Empress Theatre tonight. The story tells of a young fan who seeks to find hidden treasure buried in the Scottish hills. A gang of crooks have the same object, and some exciting scenes ensue. The opening scenes are 'described as picturesque, and take place in a Chinese restaurant in London), where a Mongolian orchestra entertain the guests. On the same programme will be a Reek-raft- comedy entitled “The Knockout.” the latest Topical Budget, and the kith episode of “The Invisible Hand,” the thrilling detective serial. On Monday night Paramount Pictures present a big attraction in “A Eull House.”

PEOPLE'S PICTURE PALACE. At the People's Picture Palace tonight Gladys Walton will play lihe leading role in “High Heels,” the story of a spoiled society girl who, when disaster overtakes her family, deserts them and marries a worthless hut rich acquaintance. After a time she changes from a flippant gnrjl to an understanding woman, and wins hack the respect of her family,. There will be also the 12th episode of “The Flaming Disc.” On Monday night Conway Tearle will appear in “After Midnight.” Tea He plays a dual role, that of two brothers of widely different characters. This picture is said to give the popular actor ample scope for his dramatic ability.

PEOPLE'S PICTURE PALACE, TUESDAY NEXT. The personnel of the Quality Performers which appears at the People’s Picture Palace on Tuesday night includes Leonard Nelson, the wellknown comedian and entertainer; Miss Hazel Fuller, soprano, who was recently with the New South Wales State Orchestra, Mr Aneurin Morris, the Welsh-Australian, is said to possess the sweetest lyric tenor voice that has ever been heard in New Zealand. Misses Rose Fitzgerald (contralto), Nell Glynn (soprano), Beatrice Wenban (mezzo), and Annette Lang (danseuse) are the other lady members of the company. The male voices include Wilfred Scott, Harry Webster (bass), and George Sharratt (baritone). The company is supported by an orchestra of talented musicians under the direction of Signor Asioli, the famous Italian violinist. There is also another famous musical director with the company, namely, Mr Wally Foster, composer and jazz specialist, whose jazz band is a highly popular portion of the entertainment. Clean, wholesome comedy is supplied by Miss Wenban, formerly of J. C. Williamson companies, a gifted artiste, and George Sharratt, Harry Webster, and Leonard Nelson, all of whom have a wonderful lot of new comedy songs and character sketches. Other features of this diverting entertainment are dancing by Miss Annette Lang and Harry Webster, and characterisations and monologues by George Sharratt. The band consists of Messrs Phil Asioli (leader and guitar), Walter Foster (trombone and saxophone), William Key (flute and piccolo), and a cornetist and drummer, all talented musicians.
