EXPERT’S ADVICE IGNORED

With a view to reducing naval expenditure, the Commonwealth Government has given instructions that time expired ratings be not signed on further service. The scheme has been adopted against the advice of naval officers, who fear that it will affect the efficiency of the service. Admiral Dumarisq’s term of three years expires in April, and he will rejoin the Royal Navy. Commodore Addison will succceed him. ——
