WAITOMO COUNTY.
VACANCY ON THE COUNCIL. The resignation of Cr J. Willis, representative of the Otorohanga riding on the Waitomo County Council, created a vacancy on that body. Nominations closed at noon yesterday, and as three candidates have entered the field, an election is necessary. It will be held on Saturday next. The candidates nominated are Messrs H. A. Lurman, C. E. Murphy and A. Scholes. It is stated that the nomination papers of Mr B. Budden, of Honikiwi, went astray. They were posted, and it was thought that they would be delivered before the closing hour. The probability is that they were incorrectly addressed, and have gone to the electoral returning officer, not to the county clerk.
