Mr J. D. Vernon left for Auckland by the 2 a.m. train to-day. Mr Lindsay, road foreman for the Otorohanga riding of the Waitomo County, was highly complimented by Cr. J. Willis and the Chairman, Mr j. Wall, at Thursday's meeting. Hiswork was described as efficient, and 1 it saved much of Mr H. L. Hogg's time. Cr. A. H. Condon, of Awakino, a : member of the Awakino County Council, died this week of pleurisy. Mr James Boddie, district representative of the Waikato Hospital Board, was in Te Kuiti yesterday. He left for Auckland to-day. Mr E. W. Burton, S.M., returned from Taumarunui last night. Mr G. H. Nunnerley, secretary of the Returned Soldiers' Association, left on a visit to Auckland on this morning's main trunk express. Mr R. Chestnut, a well-known resident of Mairoa. died at Te Kuiti yesterday. Lieutenant Garnet Arrowsmith, solicitor, Otorohanga, who has recently returned from the front, is staying at Kelvin House. ! Among the patients in St. Margaret's Private Hospital are Mr J. D.* Stevenson, of Waitomo Caves, who is rather seriously indisposed, and Mr J. Stilling Duff, accountant, Te Kuiti, who will most likely be well enough to return to his office in the course of a few days.
