It is pointed out by a Southern paper that Parliament must meet on or before August 31, or the long list of important enactments —some of them essential to carrying on the government—named ;n the Expiring Laws Continuance Act, 1918, will cease to be in force. Section 2 of that Act in a reference to thes? enactments says they "shaU continue in force until the 31st day of August, 1919, and shall then expire if not further continued."
