CHINESE OUTRAGE. CHURCH ATTACKED. 6y Teleeraph.—Prete Association.— CoosrisM Sydney, Monday. An armed Chinaman provided one of the most exciting scenes witnessed in Sydney yesterday, when he ran amok in a Chinese Christian church in the city. He entered the building carrying two small ■moke boxes, which be placed on the floor and lighted. CONGREGATION FIRED AT.

Dense masses of fumes rose from these, and when they had filled the church he drew two revolvers with which he oper.ed fire on the congregation, shontinß at random through the smoke. Nona of the ballets took effect, but the congregation became panic-stricken and stampeded for the exits. PEOPLE SHOT. The building in which th* shooting occurred wbs upstairs, and the madman being near the main doorß the congregation climbed through the windows on to the roof of a big verandah. The lunatic leaned out of one of the windows and opened fire agsin. This time his shooting was noticeably more effective, and bullets struck two men and Mies Dyson, a European, who had been conducting the service. FIREMAN ATTACKED.

The noise and smoke caused an alarm of fire being given. Toe fire engines being quickly on the scene, where they wera met with a fusillade of bullets, none hitting either firemen or er.gines. The madman then bolted along the stre3t, pursued by a crowd, on whom he tnrned and fired, his pursueis rushing for cover from the stream of ballets which he poured in their direction. During the momentary confusion which followed he dashed up a lane way, in which he barricaded himself. SEIZED AND HANDCUFFED. The police and firemen occupied a neighbouring houee and turned a searchlight on the madman, a battle of revolvers being kept up for some time, the Chinaman being in possession of large quantities of ammunition.

He held tbe beßiegers at bay until some of them entered the building from behind while his attention wbb held in the front, and seized and handcuffed him. FIFTEEN WOUNDED.

Altogether fifteen people were wounded, and ten of th°m are in the hospital, three being seriously injured

LATER NEWS. CHINAMAN KILLED. RETURNED SOLDIER'S RISK. A BRAVE MAN. Sydn«y, Monday. A returned soldier named Ryan, borrowing a police revolver, and waving aside their admonitions to be cautious, rushed the Chinaman, who fired two shots, but missed Ryan, who, with a single shot, killed the desperado. The latter had kept the police at bay by firing fifteen shots.
