AUCKLAND MARKETS. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report:—On Wednesday, at our Westfield weekly fat stock market our entry of fat cattle totalled 235 head, comprising 173 steers, 59 cdws and heifers, and three bulls. The yarding again comprised many consignments of extra prime steers. There was a steady demand throughout, with little or no alteration from last week's quotations. Choice ox sold to £2 14s per 1001b; prime ox, £2 10s to £2 13s; ordinary and rough beef, £2 2s to £2 8s; cow and heifer beef, £2 4s to' £•? 10s. Steers ranged in price from £l2 10s to £24 17s Gd, the last-named price for two steers from Mr H. E. Reed, Waerenga; cows and heifers, £8 10s to £lB ss. The highest Waikato averages for steers were: 1G from Mr 11. E. Reed, Waerenga, £22 16s 3d; 6 from the Waikato., £2l 0s lid; 8 from Mr B. McCabe, Ngaroto, £l9 Ss 9d; 5 from Mr Thos. Muir, Onewhero, £lB 15s Gd: 8 from Mr W. C. Ring, Hinucrn, £lB 16s 3d; 6 from Mr W. (!. Park, Te Awamutu, £lB ss. There was a heavy yarding of mutton, including a big proportion of extra prime wethers and ewes. Competition, was keen, and although values in most cases were a trifle easier than last week's advanced rates, they were easily up to the previous week's figures. Extra heavy prime woolly wethers, £2 7s to £2 9s 3d; 54 from Mr W. C. Lambs came forward in large numbers and in consequence values eased. Best prime heavy, £1 7s 6d to £1 10s 9d; good lambs, £1 3s to £1 7s; lighter, £1 to £l. 2s 6d; small, 15s to 19s (256 sold). We had a full yarding of. fat *md young calves. Runners and choice vealers sold at late rates. Other calves were in excess of requirements and were easier in value. Runners made from £8 12s 6d to £l3 2s 6d for a choice 20-month steer; vealers, heavy £4 12s to £5 ss, medium £3 to £4 10s, light £2 2s to £2 15s, small and freshdropped 6s to £1 15s (115 sold). Our market of pigs was short of requirements, and all classes improved in value. Large choppers and heavy baconers made from £7 to £8 ss; small choppers niul light baconers £4 15s'to £G 10s; porkers, large £4 to J?i 10s, medium £3 10s to £3 18s, small £2 •JBs to £3 Ss: slips, £2 5s to £2 12s; wcaners. £1 15s to £2 Is; small, £1 5s to £1 J2s (175 sold). .

Extra prime ox sold up to £2 10s; ordinary quality, £2 3s to £2 7s; cow and.heifer beef 50s. Veal: A fair yarding, and prices were equal to last week's rates. Heavy runners sold up to £5 10s; heavy suckers, £3 5s to £5 10s; small, 20s to 355. Mutton: A. bio- yarding, and prices were not so good as last week. Prime wethers sold up to £2 Bs, extra heavy; medium weight, £2 2s; prime ewes, to 395; shorn wethers, extra* good, £2; shorn ewes, to 31s. Lamb: A fair yarding. This year's good, 325; medium, 25s to 30s. Pork: A big yarding, which sold at late rates. Choppers made £5 15s to £7 17s 6d; baconers, £4 to £5; porkers, 35s to £3; weaners, 20s to 31s. . .
