TO CRUSH KOUMANIA
ROUMANIAN APPEAL FOR HELP
London, Thursday
Speaking in the Roumanian Parliament, M. Basilescu said that he believed that the motives behind the Central Powers' attempt to crush Roumania wore that victory would mean the consolidation of the German mastery from the North Sea to the Persian Gulf, the inViusion of Russia from the south via Bessarabia, the control of the Black Sea, and perhaps a decisive victory in the East, and also securing of vast Roumanian stores of com, petroleum beninze, mineral oils, Ball, timber, the railways and the system of Danube transport, besides cropß. He exhorts the Allies to do their utmost to protect Roumania, thereby shortening the war, Baving millions of lives and hundreds of millions in money.
