HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT

The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, August 14th, is as follows, quotations, unless otherwise specified, being average market prices an spot:— Mutton. —The market is steady at last quotations for best quality lightweight, owing to short supply of wethers being available for the general public. Heavyweights and ewes are more plantiful at lower prices. Canterbury, 7d for lightweights heavyweights id N rth Island, G 13-16 d for best quality ordinary quality, 6 11-16 d ewes, 5Jd.
Lamb. —Prices are declining owing to poor demand. The market is affected by an increase in arrivals of Scotch lamb, which ia selling at B£d. Canterbury twos, 83-16 d heavyweight fourß 7Jd North Island 8 l-16d for beat quality lightweight second grade lightweight GJd. Beef. —Quotations for chiled beef are nominal. Hinds, BJd lores, 7§d. Uutter.—Thfl market ia very firm, but: rjuiet. Danish, firm, but limited demand, 170s to 174s Siberian, good demand, finest UiSis to 134 s, and up to l.'His, Irish creamery, firm, 154 ato 1!j8h, Australian and Argentine, nothing offering. Choose.--The market is quiet but steady. Cunwlinn, quiet, white and coloured 74s to 70s, New Zealand, slow white and coloured 74s to 765, United Statea slow 70s to 725.
