At Seattle, Washington, the remains of a mastodon were found a hundred and fifty feet beneath the surface when hydraulic machinery, used forexcavating or the site of the new sports stadium, removed the earth. Professor Bretz , of the Stats University, beieves that such monster 3 were common in prehistoric nges on the Pacific Coast, but none have hitherto -been found, however, on the coast. RIFLES FOR ULSTER. London, Saturday. One man has confessed to losing £BO,OOO, and other confessions are expected. In each instance the police secured 10 per cent, of the proceeds o± the swindle. THE MEXICAN MUDDLE. London, Saturday. President- Huerta, who fled from the Presidential residence yesterday, has been located at Tialpan, a suburb of Mexico City. General Huerta's disappearance is attributed to a desire to delay the delivery of the United States demands and to gain time. The German Legation has directed all Germans to proceed to the seaports. . The rebels have interrupted the traffic with Vera Cruz, and "held up" an express, which they robbed of silver bullion, the property of the Go> yernment of the value of 1,000,000 pesos.
