DEATH OF MR COTTER, K.C.
A DISTINGUISHED CAREER. Tha death took place on Friday morning of Mr Thomas Cotter, K.C-, leader of the Bar in Auckland. Deceased wae only (>"' years of age, and his untimely dennsa terminated one oL the nost brilliant legal careers in tha Dominion. Deep regret will be feit, net only in Auckland, but through the profession in the Dominion at Mr Cotter's death at such a comparatively early age. IJp till a few weeks ago, when ha returned from Wellington after taking part in the important ease in which tha proprie" tors of! the "Observer" were charged With contempt of court ha had never known a day's illness. He was smldan'y taken ill, and at ones ordered into a private hospital, where an urgent operation was performed. A second operation wag found necessary, and this took place on Thursday. Mr Cotter came * through the ordeal successfully, but yesterday morning hs passed away.
